our founder’s story
onderbroeks began as a project to help me cope with my anxiety. sewing was a way for me to relax, focus on something outside of myself, and to do something that allowed me to express my creativity. while all of those things are still true, onderbroeks has since become so much more.
after making the decision to leave the hustle and bustle of toronto in search for a more peaceful place to live and grow, onderbroeks found a forever home in beautiful kingston, ontario. relocating the business felt like a big risk (cue that anxiety we talked about), but i crossed my fingers, and hoped to god (literally, out loud) the business would survive my leap of faith. luckily, since moving and converting the top floor of my home to a dedicated studio for our team, onderbroeks has grown dramatically. we’ve achieved our goal of moving away from single, made-to-order pieces; instead we design and produce small batch, curated collections of luxury robes and loungewear. we continue to partner with a growing list of wholesale clients, including exclusive boutiques, luxury and medical spas, and we’re proud to create custom packages for bridal parties across the country. needless to say, i’m so glad (as i have been many times before) that i chose to have faith.
today, onderbroeks is a luxury robe and loungewear brand that is proud to be female-founded, canadian-made and responsibly produced right here in kingston, ontario. our team focuses on creating unique, high-quality garments using OEKO-TEX® certified, ethical, and sustainable fabric. when you buy your first (or fifth, or twelfth) onderbroeks piece, you know you’re supporting a local company that values our people, and our planet.
